Here’s how it works.
I’m Dianne Hunt of Same DiNamics Crochet and I’m doing a charity guest post on Oombawka Design Crochet.
This month’s featured organization is a local, to me, organization named the Frederick Rescue Mission. Their organization is a Christ-centered ministry that focuses on helping to provide residential needs to homeless individuals and families, and to addicted individuals. The Frederick Rescue Mission also provides meals for the hungry; clothing and furniture for those in need.
Frederick Rescue Mission
Charity of the Month – September
“Established as a non-profit Christian ministry in 1964, we exist to meet the needs of hurting and broken people while inviting them into the abundant life Christ offers to all. We offer a life recovery program and believe every man that enters with a heart surrendered to God and a cooperative attitude should never have to see a prison, jail, homeless shelter, rehab center or rescue mission again.” – Frederick Rescue Mission
The Frederick Rescue Mission is always in need of donated clothing items that can keep individuals warm during the colder months. They accept clothing for all ages but there is a greater demand for men’s clothing.

How can you help?
Crocheters and knitters can help by providing warm hats, scarves, and/or mittens to those in need.
If the Frederick Rescue Mission is not a local organization for you, you can look in your own community to find an organization which provides overnight shelter to the homeless community.
You can try searching for a local shelter here:

Project Idea: Crocheting hats and mittens can be great stash buster projects and they work up fairly quickly. The best, fiber (yarn) to use for these items is acrylic. That way you don’t run into the risk of having the beneficiary of your donated item have an allergic reaction to the fiber of the yarn if it’s wool or a wool blend.
I have provided a quick and easy Simple, Men’s Beanie pattern you can crochet to donate to your local organization. Its free and can be worked up in one evening.
