Free Pattern

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT:
– DK Weight Yarn
1) terracotta (250 m/100 g) – 30 g
2) lilac (250 m/100 g) – 5 g
3) black (250 m/100 g) – 15 g
4) off-white (250 m/100 g) – 5 g
5) orange (250 m/100 g) – 10 g (for embroidery)
– 2.5 mm crochet hook
– polyester fiberfill
– tapestry needle
– scissors

ABBREVIATIONS:
ch(-s). – chain(s)
sc – single crochet
Rnd(s) – round(s)
st(s). – stitch(es)
sl. st. – slip stitch
incr – increase (2 sc worked into 1 st)
decr – decrease (2 sc crocheted together)

The pattern is written in US crochet terms.

DESCRIPTION:

All details are worked in spiral rounds without joining, unless otherwise stated.

The finished amigurumi is about 6,5” tall, if made with indicated yarn weight and hook size.

BODY:

With terracotta:

1 Rnd: ch. 2, work 8 sc into the 2nd ch. from the hook = 8 sc,
2 Rnd: incr around = 16 sc,
3 Rnd: (incr, 3 sc) – repeat 4 times = 20 sc,
4 Rnd: 2 sc, (incr, 4 sc) – repeat 3 times, incr, 2 sc = 24 sc,
5 Rnd: 24 sc,
6 Rnd: 4 sc, (incr, 5 sc) – repeat 3 times, incr, 1 sc = 28 sc,
7 Rnd: 28 sc,
8 Rnd: (6 sc, 1 incr) – repeat 4 times = 32 sc,
9 – 12 Rnds: 32 sc,
13 Rnd: (incr, 7 sc) – repeat 4 times = 36 sc,
14 Rnd: 2 sc, (incr, 8 sc) – repeat 3 times, incr, 6 sc = 40 sc,
15 Rnd: 4 sc, (incr, 9 sc) – repeat 3 times, incr, 5 sc = 44 sc,
16 Rnd: 6 sc, (incr, 10 sc) – repeat 3 times, incr, 4 sc = 48 sc,
17 – 18 Rnds: 48 sc,
19 Rnd: (incr, 23 sc) – repeat 2 times = 50 sc,
20 – 31 Rnds: 50 sc,
32 Rnd: (decr, 3 sc) – repeat 10 times = 40 sc,
33 Rnd: 2 sc, (decr, 3 sc) – repeat 7 times, decr, 1 sc = 32 sc,
34 Rnd: (decr, 2 sc) – repeat 8 times = 24 sc, sl. st. into the next sc, do not finish off.

LEGS

Photo Tutorial for the Legs

1st leg:
1 Rnd: ch. 1, 7 sc, fold the body and work 1 sc into the same sc as the beginning ch.1 = 8 sc,
2 – 3 Rnds: 8 sc, sl. st. into the next sc, fasten off, join black, (Photo Tutorial – Join New Yarn with Single Crochet Stitch)
4 – 7 Rnds: 8 sc, sl. st. into the next sc, fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.

2nd leg:

With terracotta:
Skip next 4 sc of the body,
1 Rnd: ch. 1, 7 sc, fold the body and work 1 sc into the same sc as the beginning ch.1 = 8 sc,
2 – 3 Rnds: 8 sc, sl. st. into the next sc, fasten off, join black,
4 – 7 Rnds: 8 sc, sl. st. into the next sc, fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.

Stuff the bear firmly (a pencil will help to stuff the legs), close the openings on the legs and the remaining 8 stitches of the body.
ARM (MAKE 2):

Start with black:
1 Rnd: ch. 2, work 8 sc into the 2nd ch. from the hook = 8 sc,
2 – 7 Rnds: 8 sc, sl. st. into the next sc, fasten off, join terracotta,
8 – 10 Rnds: 8 sc, sl. st. into the next sc, fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.

Stuff lightly.

EAR (MAKE 2):

With black:
1 Rnd: ch. 2, work 4 sc into the 2nd ch. from the hook = 4 sc,
2 Rnd: (incr, 1 sc) – repeat 2 times= 6 sc,
3 Rnd: (incr, 2 sc) – repeat 2 times = 8 sc,
4 Rnd: (incr, 3 sc) – repeat 2 times = 10 sc,
5 Rnd: 10 sc,
6 Rnd: (decr, 3 sc) – repeat 2 times = 8 sc, sl. st. into the next sc, fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.

MUZZLE:

With terracotta:
1 Rnd: ch. 2, 6 sc into the 2nd ch. from the hook = 6 sc,
2 Rnd: (incr, 2 sc) – repeat 2 times = 8 sc,
3 Rnd: 2 sc, incr, 3 sc, incr, 1 sc = 10 sc,
4 Rnd: (4 sc, incr) – repeat 2 times = 12 sc,
5 Rnd: (incr, 5 sc) – repeat 2 times = 14 sc,
6 Rnd: 2 sc, incr, 6 sc, incr, 4 sc = 16 sc, sl. st. into the next sc, fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.

Stuff lightly and sew between Rnds 9 and 16 of the body.

TAIL:

Start with off-white:
1 Rnd: ch. 2, work 5 sc into the 2nd ch. from the hook = 5 sc,
2 Rnd: incr, (sc, incr) – repeat 2 times = 8 sc,
3 Rnd: 2 sc, (incr, 2 sc) – repeat 2 times = 10 sc,
4 Rnd: 2 incr, (2 sc, 2 incr) – repeat 2 times = 16 sc,
join black,
5 Rnd: 16 sc,
6 Rnd: (decr, 6 sc) – repeat 2 times = 14 sc,
7 Rnd: 14 sc,
8 Rnd: (decr, 5 sc) – repeat 2 times = 12 sc,
9 Rnd: 12 sc,
10 Rnd: (decr, 4 sc) – repeat 2 times = 10 sc,
11 Rnd: 10 sc,
12 Rnd: (decr, 3 sc) – repeat 2 times = 8 sc, sl. st. into the next sc, fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.

Stuff lightly.

EYE PATCH (MAKE 2):

With off-white:
1 Rnd: ch. 2, work 6 sc into the 2nd ch. from the hook = 6 sc, sl. st. into the next sc, fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.

Attach to the head above the muzzle.

BOW TIE
Detail 1:
1 Rnd: ch. 8, sc into the 2nd ch. from the hook and the next 5 ch-s, 3 sc into the last ch., 5 sc, 2 sc into the 1st ch. = 16 sc,
2 Rnd: incr, 1 sc, 3 sl. sts, 1 sc, 3 incr, 1 sc, 3 sl. sts, 1 sc, 2 incr = 22 sc, sl. st. into the next sc, fasten off, weave in the ends.

Detail 2 (knot):
1 Rnd: ch. 2, work 6 sc into the 2nd ch. from the hook = 6 sc, sl. st. into the next sc, fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.

JOINING:

  • Attach the ears between Rnds 2 and 6 of the head.
  • Attach the muzzle between Rnds 10 and 16 (or as you wish).
  • Attach the eye-patches right above the muzzle.

  • Stitch the fox with vertical stitches in off-white (front part of the ears and the tummy. I tried to stitch the muzzle as well, but it was too much) and orange (the back of the ears, the tail and the terracotta part of the body). One stitch should be 1 or 2 sc tall.

Embroider the eyes with the French Knots, and the nose and mouth with the Satin Stitch.

Sew the knot of the tie to the main detail and sew the tie to Rnd 18 of the body.

Or you can simplify the fox omitting the black details and most of the colour changes, and get a cute Foxy too.
