Remember you will be changing colours at the end of each row. The easiest way to do this is to change colours on the last yarn over of the stitch. Then cut the yarn for the row leaving 5-6″ tail for weaving in later.

Seaming Section:

With the right side of your project on the inside, whip stitch (need help? see the Helpful Tutorials at the beginning of the post) the edges of R1 together using the same colour of yarn as was used in R1. Finish off and weave in ends. Turn the bonnet right side out and proceed to the ties section.

Ties Section:

This technique produces a 12″ tie.

Cut the same colour yarn as you finished with in your last R for the bonnet size you are making, to a length of 136 inches. Fold this length of yarn in half and pull the folded end (loop) through the corner edge of the bonnet with your crochet hook. Insert the crochet hook under the length of yarn (both strands) and chain stitch 50 times. Finish off and weave in ends. Repeat for the other corner. of the bonnet.
