As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. When you purchase through links on my site, I may earn an affiliate commission. Here’s how it works.

The Everblooms Hat is a simple and cozy crochet project that works up quickly. Made from the top down in one piece, this hat uses basic stitches like half double crochet, double crochet, and single crochet. It’s a great pattern for all skill levels, and I’ve included sizes from Preemie to Adult. Plus, there’s a matching scarf pattern if you want to make a set!

For help on any of these stitches or techniques you can refer to the tutorials included in my free online crochet stitch guide.

The free written pattern is available in my post below, or if you prefer, you can purchase the ad-free PDF crochet pattern from my shop.

The Yarn

For this month’s Crochet Club Patterns, I used Red Heart Super Saver Bitty Stripes in Rainbow Mist. This 100% acrylic yarn is beautiful to work with and I love the muted soft colors that transition into each other smoothly. I love denim-y like yarns that have that bit of white mixed in with the colors.

Red Heart Yarn - Super Saver - Bitty Stripes

There are quite a few colors in this new line of Super Saver yarn to choose from.

Super Saver Bitty Stripes

  • Worsted Weight Yarn [4]
  • 100% Acrylic
  • Recommended hook size is 5.5 mm (US I-9)
  • Machine wash and dry.
  • Shade: Rainbow Mist (Shade E900.0101)
  • Yarnspirations – Red Heart Yarn

Helpful Tutorial

Notes:

  • Multiple of 2
  • When I work into the foundation chain, I prefer working into the back bar (back bump) of the chain. You can work under the back loop only if you prefer.
  • Initial ch 1, ch 2 and ch 3 do not count as stitches and we do not work into them.
  • Work the first st of each round into the same stitch that has the slip stitch join and initial chs.
  • You may substitute your favorite method for starting in rounds for the DMR (double magic ring) if you prefer.
  • Sl st to join is made in the first st of the round (skipping over any starting chain).
  • You can make your slip stitches tightly as we will not be working into them.
  • If you’d like to increase the hat height, work more repeat rounds. Be sure to work the final round (the sc round) with the RS (right side) of the hat facing outwards. This means if you change the number of repeat rounds you may need to turn before working the last round.

This easy crochet scarf uses simple stitches and can be made in any size with any yarn and hook. Perfect for beginners!
