  • The square is fully reversible, with the texture looking clean and balanced on both sides.

Chain 3 stitch Join

Create a slip knot (do not place it on your hook). Insert your hook in the first stitch of the round. Place slip knot on your hook and pull through the first st, ch 3.

Notes:

  • I begin with a DMR (double magic ring) but you may use your favorite starting method to begin. Alternately, ch 4 and work Rnd 1 into the 4th ch from the hook. The first 3 skipped chs would replace the initial ch 3.
  • Ch 3 counts as 1 dc.
  • Sl st to join is made in the first st of the round.
  • I worked a dc as the first st, without increasing the turning chain, because I felt it mimicked the look of the other dc sts in the project (they are ‘squished’ a bit because on either side there are sc stitches. You can substitute a sl st, ch 3 in the first st if you prefer.
  • Corner sc is the middle stitch worked in the ch2sp. (1 dc, 1 sc, 1 dc).
  • From Rnd 1 to the last round, when I made color changes, I finished off at the end of the round, turned my work and then joined a new color of yarn using a ch-3-st join in the first st (the one beside your slip stitch join). This replaced the first dc of the round (don’t make a second dc). You may carry your yarn or use an alternate method to change colors if you prefer.
  • To make this endless blanket square larger, work more repeat rounds.
  • To make a square measuring approximately 12 inches X 12 inches, follow the pattern up to and including round 15, then add the final edging round (round 16).
  • Project is reversible up to the final round.
  • Extra photos follow the written pattern.
