The Endless Garden of Flowers Square is a simple crochet square with a repeat you can settle into and enjoy. The two-round repeat is easy to remember and is worked from the center out.

This center-out crochet square uses a two-round repeat that’s easy to remember and works well for blankets of any size.

About the Endless Garden of Flowers Square

In this pattern, the square is worked from the center out in joined, turned rounds. As a result, the easy two-round repeat is simple to remember and works well for longer crochet sessions. Clear round-by-round photos and photo tutorials are included to walk you through the cluster stitches that create the flowers.

You can stop after a few repeats for a 6-inch square, continue to 12 inches, or keep going to make a square blanket in any size. That flexibility makes this pattern ideal for scrap yarn projects, baby blankets, lapghans, and full-size afghans.

This design was created as part of the 2026 BAMCAL and pairs beautifully with my other Endless Afghan Squares.

Notes:

  • I begin with a DMR (double magic ring) but you may use your favorite starting method to begin. Alternately, ch 4 and work Rnd 1 into the 4th ch from the hook. The first 3 skipped chs would replace the initial ch 3.
  • Ch 3 counts as 1 hdc and ch 1.
  • Sl st to join is made in the first st of the round.
  • After Round 2, we will be working into the chain spaces (ch1sp, ch3sp) and skipping all other stitches (unless mentioned).
  • Color Changes: You can join with your preferred joining method. For example, I joined with a slip stitch; alternatively, you can use a chain join or a standing stitch. After you decide which joining method you are using, join in the chain-space that follows the slip stitch join.
  • Pattern is written using NEW COLOR and finish off COLOR. I rotated Color A and Color B but you can use colors of your choice for your square.
  • If you’d like your endless blanket square to be larger, you can work more repeat rounds of Round 3 and Round 4.
  • To make a square measuring approximately 12 inches X 12 inches, follow the pattern up to and including round 9, then add the final edging round (round 10).
  • For a 6-inch square work up to and including round 5, then add the final edging round (round 11).
  • Project is reversible.
  • Before you begin, there are extra round-by-round photos following the written pattern.
