Looking for a fast and easy crochet hat pattern that uses less than 1 ball of bulky weight yarn? My Easy Does It Hat Pattern is beginner friendly crochet project that you can make in less than 2 hours.
Disclaimer: The yarn used for this project was given to me by KnitPal.
Crochet is a great way to create something warm and cozy for yourself or your loved ones, but it can be intimidating to take on a project that seems too difficult or requires too much yarn. That’s where my Easy Does It Hat pattern comes in: it’s a beginner-friendly crochet project that can be completed in less than two hours using less than one ball of bulky weight yarn. You’ll be able to craft a practical, stylish winter accessory for anyone from preemies to adults, and you’ll do it all with minimal time, minimal fuss, and minimal materials.
The Yarn
The yarn used for this project was given to me by KnitPal. It is gorgeously soft and easy to work with. The color transitions gently from white to soft gray in the White Elephant colorway. It reminded me of soft fluffy clouds as I was crocheting.
I wanted to come up with a pattern that you could make with just a single ball of the Ombre Encore yarn. I decided on a simple stitch to let the yarn shine.
Ombre Encore is an acrylic, bulky weight yarn [5]. It is machine washable in cold water and it is best if you lay it flat to dry. The yarn is conveniently available to purchase on Amazon and it is available in 15 gradient colorways.
This warm and cozy hat is worked from the bottom up to the top in one piece. You can make multiple small hats with just one skein, or one of the adult size hats.
The design of the hat tapers toward the crown so you don’t have a lot of extra fabric at the top weighing it down. If you’d like the hat to have a bit of slouch, you can easily add more repeat rounds.
