Did You Know? You can submit your blog to search engines.
Did you know? You cansubmit your blog to search engines and it is really very simple.
I have been spending a great deal of time researching about blogging, social networking and advertising lately. This means I have been reading many (and I mean many!!) books about the topics – I am by no means an expert and I would never claim to be but I thought maybe some of the things I have learned might be helpful to other newby bloggers like me 🙂
So for my first Did You Know? post I decided to start with something very simple that could make a big difference.
You don’t have to wait for search engines to find you. You can submit your blog url to them to be added. You still have to post regularly and you still have to have good content to move up in the search results but why not begin the process by helping them to find you?
How to Submit Your Blog to Search Engines
You submit your blog’s main URL (i.e. http://www.yourblognamehere.com) to the appropriate places. The search engines will take it from there.
Three Search Engines You Can Submit Your Blog to
I know there are more than three…but these are the 3 I am most familiar with –
1. Google – www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl
Google and Yahoo! are both very straightforward. You enter your blog url and a captcha code and away you go. Technorati is a little more complicated because you have to sign up for a free account before you can submit your blog url.
For Technorati on the signup page (for your Technorati profile) select the “I have a blog and would like to claim it now” check box at the bottom of the page.
How to Check if your Blog is Included in the Search Engine Database
Go to the Search Engine and search for your blog’s URL (not just the name; the URL “http://www.yourblognamehere.com”). If it shows up in the search results it has been indexed by that Search Engine and you do not need to submit it again 🙂
