Diamond Squares Poncho & Afghan
This month, Carol Hegar from Shady Lane Original Crochet Designs has given me a copy of her Diamond Squares Poncho & Afghan ePattern to review and a second copy to giveaway to one of my readers! This electronic booklet includes 11 pages of easy to follow written instructions. A helpful chart is also provided for those who prefer working from charts.
The entire pattern uses single crochet stitches (sc) worked in the back loop of a stitch and double crochet stitches (dc) worked in a remaining front loop of a stitch from 2 rows before. Diagrams and an explanation about how the pattern is worked are included on page 2 of the electronic booklet.
The pattern is worked on the RS (right side) only, and you will fasten-off the strand of yarn you are working with at the end of every row. A Pocket Border is used to hide all those yarn ends so you won’t need to worry about weaving them in!
By watching Carol’s helpful step-by-step video tutorial you will be able to master the dropped double crochet technique easily.
This 11-page ePattern is written in U.S. Crochet Terms and uses only simple crochet stitches. Instructions on how to read the pattern and how to recognize the loops of the stitches are all provided on page 2. Row by row written instructions for the afghan are included on pages 3 to 7 and 10-11, with the optional afghan graphs on pages 8, 9 and 11. You can work the pattern from either the written instructions, the graph, or a combination of both.
