Notes

  • I use a DMR (double magic ring) to begin my projects that are worked in the round. You may substitute a magic ring (magic circle), or a chain 3 and slip stitch to form a ring, if you prefer. Visit this post to see other options for working in rounds.
  • Initial ch 3 counts as 1 dc.
  • To make the seam less noticeable, we don’t work into the top of the ch 3, instead, we slip stitch to the first actual double crochet to join. Then we work into that slip stitch to join as the final stitch for each round.

Modification to the Mandala Pillow Front

Using your 5 mm (H) crochet hook:

With the wrong side (WS) of the Crochet Mandala Pillow Front facing you, join the same color of yarn as you chose from the pillow backing, with a sl st, to the post of any sc stitch. *Ch 4, sl st to the post of the next sc**. Work from * to ** around, making the final sl st in the initial sl st. [41 sl st, 40 ch4sp]

Finish off and proceed to finishing instructions.

Finishing Instructions

  • Place the WS of the pillow backing and the WS of the Crochet Mandala Pillow Front together and using the yarn tail left over from the pillow backing, use a whipstitch to join the pillow backing to the September Mandala front. We make one whipstitch in each sc and each chain around, excluding the final sl st. This is 200 whip stitches in total. This matches up with the final round of the pillow backing.

  • Insert the 16 inch pillow form inside the pillow when you have seamed ¾ of the pillow together. Finishing seaming the remainder of the pillow closed using the same technique as you did for the first 3/4 of the pillow.
  • Weave in any remaining ends.
