Crochet Yarn Talk –  Red Heart Fashion Soft Yarn Review

Red Heart Fashion Soft yarn is a 100% Acrylic [3] Light Weight yarn. It is available balls of 5 oz / 141 g ; 381 yds / 348 m and does not have specific dye lots. This yarn is Machine Washable on a Gentle Cycle and Tumble Dryable on a Low setting and because it is acrylic please remember not to use an iron.

I have been a long-time lover of Red Heart Soft Yarn and Fashion Soft is the lighter weight version of it. Soft and silky to the touch, this yarn is great to crochet with and your finished projects have beautiful movement and drape. The yarn has a soft sheen to it and the 18 colors available range from vibrant jewel-tones to glossy looking neutrals.   Red Heart Fashion Soft Yarn is an excellent yarn to use for projects like hats, wraps, scarves and shawls. You can also make a very pretty and lightweight blanket using this yarn. Red Heart has free patterns available which were designed specifically for use with this yarn. You can check those out right here: Red Heart Fashion Soft Yarn Patterns

I have not seen this yarn locally at my regular shopping spots in Ontario, Canada but it is available directly from Red Heart online and at retailers in the United States (like Walmart). I have seen it available at Herrschners for Canadian residents, if you would prefer to purchase from our side of the border.

The Red Heart Fashion Soft Yarn is available in 18 pretty colors. From left to right in the top row are: Artichoke, Atlantis, Black, Bright Pink, Camel, Caribbean; from left to right in the middle row are: Chocolate, Cobalt, Cream, Flax, Grey Heather, Hot Pink and from left to right in the bottom row are: Kelly Green, Lavender, Navy, Nutmeg, White, Wine.

Later today I am releasing my newest free crochet pattern for the #SCARFOFTHEMONTHCLUB2017. My contribution for the June free patterns is the Camello Bandana Scarf, which is a super versatile scarf you can also wear as a wrap. With the option to continue the pattern repeats for as many times as you want, you can also crochet a full size lightweight shawl following my pattern. I chose to use Red Heart Fashion Soft Yarn for my project and the color I selected was Camel. This lovely neutral shade is perfect for an everyday accessory and the yarn gives the project beautiful drape and movement. If you prefer a more vibrant color you have quite a few jewel like color options available – I bet this would look glorious in Hot Pink or Wine! The free pattern will be available around 7 pm ET on June 18th at this link: Camello Bandana Scarf

  1. Hi Kim Anne, I’ve actually seen that one frequently at Walmart here in Canada – so you may be able to find it there in the yarn section 🙂 Best wishes in 2021, Rhondda

  2. I have always liked Red Heart yarn and this looks so soft and would make a lovely sweater. I definitely must search for it and try it out. I hope I can find it without having to buy online.

  3. This yarn looks really nice. I don’t have much 3 weight yarn in my stash, only a couple, seriously. I wish my local big box stores would carry this Red Heart line, but I’ve never seen it or I’m sure I would have bought some. I’m not one for online yarn shopping. I want to feel the softness and fall in love with the colors in person. I can hope that some day it’s available for me to purchase. I really am missing out.

  4. I have been looking for yarn to make a large, very detailed, afghan. Your review has me convinced that Red Heart Soft is the one. Thank you!

  13. Thanks for the detailed review of Fashion Soft. I’ve seen it in the store, but wasn’t sure what it was like to work with as it didn’t feel the same as the regular RH Soft. I love the color you used for your scarf, and will definitely have to pick up a couple of skeins for my next project.

    Cheers,
    Shauna
