Crochet Yarn Talk – Premier® Cotton Fair® Yarn Review
I recently had the pleasure of trying Premier® Yarns Cotton Fair® Solids Yarn for the very first time and it is fantastic to work with. This is a fine weight yarn and the fiber content is a mixture of cotton and acrylic; making it durable, soft and light weight. Cotton Fair® Yarn is very easy to crochet with and the stitches slide smoothly along your hook. This ease of use is helpful because it will make reaching and maintaining your gauge easier!
There are a wide range of colors available in the Cotton Fair® Solids and Multis Yarn and each color is vibrant and evenly dyed. You will find 18 solid colors ranging from a bright Persimmon to soft Baby Pink. There are also 12 multi colored yarns available; my favorites are Pink Pop, Circus and Valentine!
For my upcoming #CelebrateMomCAL free pattern I used 3 colors of the Cotton Fair® Solids. The colors I used were Turquoise, Blue Iris and White. The free pattern for Beach Day Barefoot Sandals will be released on Friday April 28, 2017 on my blog. I hope you have a chance to join the CAL and make my Barefoot Sandals! Here’s a little sneak peek of the sandals using all three colors:

I’m always saddened to such beautiful yarns and yet they aren’t at the big box stores. I want to touch the yarn before I start buying it and use it for something. I don’t typically buy #2 yarn so feeling it is a must for me. But it sounds wonderful. The sandals are really cute.
This is great yarn. I have made a summer top and a market bag with it, doing my own designs.
Very welcome Maria 🙂 Have a lovely weekend, Rhondda
Thanks for the review. Makes me want to try this yarn.
Thank you Rhondda for such a detailed reply, I really appreciate it and for the other ideas you listed as well. I will have to give this yarn a try.
Hi Maria, I wouldn’t use it for dishcloths personally – I think it is a bit too fine/light weight for that purpose. It could be used for them though if you wanted to – I personally prefer a heavier cotton for those purposes. It is cotton so it would be absorbent and it would work for both absorbing water from bottles as coasters or for making really, really nice washcloths. It makes lovely garments and I think it would make a great summer neck scarf, hats, sundresses or even a head kerchief 🙂 Hope this helps! All the best, Rhondda
Hi Debby, Actually that is a good point – I never thought about adding that to yarn reviews – I do often frog things myself especially when designing something new. I found it stood up fairly well to being unraveled. My stitches weren’t super tight though so I think if you were crocheting with a smaller hook or tighter gauge it may be less forgiving. It stood up much better than the dishcloth cotton I have used (medium weight) – I find that fluffs and sort of falls apart the more times I frog and retry and I ended up cutting off the end section before crocheting my final piece for photos. Hope this helps 🙂 Rhondda
Great information regarding this yarn in terms of ease of use. Yarn appears to be one in which it would be a joy for a project. Wonder how it would hold up after being frogged multiple times? Unfortunately I have a tendency to do this quite often.
I have been wondering about this yarn, I like the look of it and the colors look fantastic. One question I have though is it absorbent? Would it be a good fit for making washcloths or coasters?
I wish my local Michaels carried this. It has a tiny yarn section though, just one tiny half aisle. I like to be able to touch the yarn so I can feel it. Thank you for the review. I might have to order some online to be able to check it out!
I love this yarn for clothing items. Perfect feel to it and love all the colors.
I find your yarn reviews quite informative and helpful in determining a yarn for new projects. This one for Premier Cotton Fair is right on time! Residing in an extremely hot and humid climate, it’s very helpful to know what’s newly available and how it feels or works up. Looking forward to more reviews! Thanks!
I will say I was pleasantly surprised at this yarn. I hate peaches and Cream and all the others out there because they split when you work with them and are so stiff when you are done, this is very nice indeed.
Thanks for this review, I’ve seen this yarn for sale and wondered what it would be like to work with. Sometimes yarns look great but are a horror!
