As with many crochet stitches, the Seed Stitch has more than one ‘official’ name.

• Yarn: Caron Cinnamon Swirl Cakes. 8 oz (227 g) and 407 yds (372 m). 100% Acrylic Yarn. Medium Weight Yarn [4]. Machine washable and dryable. 
• Color: 1 cake Licorice Swirl
• Crochet Hook: 6 mm (J) 
• Finished Project: Adult Medium Hat:  2.2 oz (63 g) and 112 yds (103 m)
• Scissors, Tapestry Needle (yarn needle)

This hat is designed to fit to the middle of the earlobe. Since this stitch doesn’t stretch a lot I have allowed 1 inch negative ease, rather than the normal 2 inches negative ease.

• Preemie  height 4 inches X 11 inches circumference
• Newborn height 4.5 inches X 13 inches circumference
• 0-3 months height 5.25 inches X 14 inches circumference
• 3-6 months height 5.5 inches X 15 inches circumference
• 6-12 months height 5.75 inches X 16 inches circumference
• 12-24 months height 6.25 inches X 17 inches circumference
• Small Child Hat (age 3-5 years) height 6.5 inches X 18 inches circumference

• Approximately 16 *sts per 4 inches and 16  rows per 4 inches worked in stitch pattern

You can substitute any yarn and hook for this stitch pattern – just remember when you substitute if your gauge is different, the finished size, and amount of yarn used for your project will also be different.

• To decrease the height of the hat, work fewer repeat rounds. To increase the height of the hat, work extra repeat rounds.
• Ch 1 to turn does not count as a stitch and we do not work into it.
• The hat is worked in joined, turned rounds. You will slip stitch to join tightly, chain 1 and then make your first stitch in the last ch1sp of the previous round; unless otherwise written.
