Yikes! you are right – she must have changed the access. I see she has a subscription service set-up which was not there before. The link even says https://www.whistleandivy.com/crochet-cactus-earrings-crochet-pattern/ so it must have changed recently. I apologize for this – I will add a note to the post! Maybe these will work in place? I would still use a 2.5 mm and and DMC 368 Embroidery floss though to make them smaller. https://www.cookiesnobcrochet.com/home/cactus-applique There is also this earring pattern https://cactiandcrochet.wordpress.com/2017/06/23/crochet-cactus-jewellery/ Hope this helps! Cactus earrings are NOT free. You have to purchase outright for $4.99USD or “join” the site for $8.99USD/month. May once have been free, but no longer. Shame, but too pricey now.
