Notes:

  • I use a DMR (double magic ring) to begin my projects that are worked in the round. You may substitute a magic ring (magic circle), or a chain 3 and slip stitch to form a ring, if you prefer. Visit this post to see other options for working in rounds.
  • Project is worked in continuous rounds. This means you do not slip stitch to join or chain 1. You may wish to use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of the round.
  • If you prefer to work in joined rounds make your slip stitch to join as tight as possible, and your chain 1 as small as possible.

10 Minute Crochet Spider Pattern for Halloween

This creepy little spider is crocheted in continuous rounds.

Using your 3.5 mm (E) crochet hook (or size required for gauge):

Rnd 1: With black: DMR: 8 sc. [8 sc]

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. [16 sc]

Rnd 3: We are now making the first four legs of the spider. *1 sl st in the next st, ch 8 (working back along the ch 8), sk 1 ch, 1 sl st in each of the next 7 chs and 1 sl st in the same st where you worked your first sl st**. Work from * to ** 3 more times. Finish off.

Flip the spider over we will be joining our yarn in the fifth stitch following the first sl st from Rnd 3 (so 5 stitches over from the first leg).

We are now making the last four legs of the spider. *1 sl st in the next st, ch 8 (working back along the ch 8), sk 1 ch, 1 sl st in each of the next 7 chs and 1 sl st in the same st where you worked your first sl st**. Work from * to ** 3 more times. Finish off.

Proceed to finishing instructions.

Finishing Instructions:

  • Weave in all ends.
  • Add two small red dots for the eyes with embroidery thread.
  • Attach a small magnet to the back of the spider. I used these because I wanted to be able to attach my spider to fabrics (like curtains, lampshades, etc.) and not just use it on the fridge. It works great as a brooch for your top too.
