Create Cozy Comfort with this Crochet Camouflage Pattern Set

This month, Carol Hegar from Shady Lane Original Crochet Designs has given me a copy of her Crochet Camouflage Cover Ups ePattern to review and a second copy to giveaway to one of my readers! This electronic booklet includes 10 pages of written instructions to make different afghan sizes, a warm car seat blanket and a matching camouflage baby hat.

The stitches you will be using to create these projects are:

• 2-St Star Stitch
• 4-St Star Stitch
• back loop (bl)
• chain (ch)
• double crochet (dc)
• front loop (fl)
• single crochet (sc)
• slip stitch (sl st)

Part of the afghan design is created by using a mosaic dropped double crochet technique. This technique allows you to create an image by cleverly placing dropped dc stitches into the remaining front loops of stitches from 2 rounds below. 

All of the color changes that are made are done at the beginning of the rounds, so you are only working with ONE color at a time for these sections. The unused yarn color is carried up at the back seam and then picked up as needed. This means there are very few yarn ends to sew in! Carol has a helpful video tutorial available to demonstrate the dropped double crochet stitch technique.

Fits baby with head circumference of approximately 12.5 inches to 14 inches.

• Baby Weight Yarn.
• 3.50 mm (E)
• 1.5 oz variegated camouflage and a small amount of green yarn to match
• 5 sc per inch and 5 rows/rounds per inch

The patterns are written in US Crochet terms. Charts are included for the Star Sections of the blankets; however, written instructions are also provided for these sections for those who prefer working from the written out directions.

Camouflage Cover-Ups, #913. Crochet pattern booklet features instructions to make a camouflage afghan in four sizes–adult size, child size and 2 baby sizes using worsted weight or baby yarn. Also includes instructions to make a camouflage take-along car seat cover blanket (with slot for seat belt to fit through) and matching camouflage baby hat (12.5 – 14 inch head circumference). Intermediate skill level.
