Create a Cozy Sweethearts Shawl with Puffy Hearts

My Sweethearts Shawl is a simple to make project featuring puffy hearts and simple stitches. I have crocheted my Sweethearts Shawl as part of the #HobbiiShadesofRed challenge sponsored by Hobbii.
As part of this fun challenge I was encouraged to find yarn that made me think of love, and warmth and Valentine’s Day. When I browsed the yarns available from Hobbii I had a few colors that called out to me but decided on Cascata yarn in the shade Nachi. #hobbiicascata
Cascata is made from a blend of 61% cotton and 39% acrylic fibers. This blown cake yarn boasts a radiant shine that will add a touch of magic to any project. I love how the strand seems to glow from within. The seamless color transitions were perfect for this project. Nachi slowly moves from vibrant pinks to warm reds, to delicate rose, and even a hint of rich burgundy.
It made crocheting this project easy and quick since I didn’t need to change between different shades of red and weave in multiple ends. Just 4 ends in total for the entire project!
Each Cascata ball contains a generous amount of yarn; 437 yards (400 m). For my Sweethearts Shawl, which measures 17 inches wide X 62 inches long, I only needed 2 balls in total.

Create a Cozy Sweethearts Shawl with Puffy Hearts
Supplies
- Yarn: Hobbii: Cascata. 7.1 oz (200 g) and 437 yds (400 m). 61% Cotton; 39% Acrylic Yarn. Medium Weight Yarn [4]. Delicate wash at max 86℉ (30°C). Do not tumble dry. Do not iron.
- Color: 2 skeins Nachi (04)
- Crochet Hook: 6 mm (J)
- Finished Project: Wrap: 12.9 oz (366 g) and 799.7 yds (732 m)
- Scissors, Tapestry Needle (yarn needle)

Special Stitches
The puffy hearts are created by working puff stitches!
Puff Stitch (ps) – *Yarn over the hook, insert the hook into the indicated stitch, yarn over and pull up 1 loop**; repeat from * to ** two more times. You will have 7 loops on your hook, yarn over and pull through all 7 loops to complete the stitch.

Notes
- Multiple of 4 + 4 for the starting chain
- If starting mid project you will need a multiple of 4 + 1 stitches to work over
- Initial ch 2 counts as 1 hdc.
- Initial ch 3 counts as 1 dc.
- Pattern is written for size 17 inches wide X 62 inches length Adult Shawl.
- For other sizes please refer to the other sizes section. Choose which size you’d like and substitute in the starting chain provided in the chart and then work until you have the number of rows specified in the chart, before working the final row (R27).

This project is crocheted lengthwise.
R1: Ch 216, sk the first 4 chs (counts as 1 skipped ch and 1 dc). *1 dc in each of the next 3 chs, ch 1, sk 1 ch**. Work from * to ** across to the last 4 chs; 1 dc in each of the last 4 chs, turn. [161 dc, 53 ch1sp]
R2: Ch 2 (counts as 1 hdc). *Sk the next dc, (1 ps, ch 4, 1 ps, ch 1), in the next dc, sk the next dc and the next ch1sp**. Work from * to ** across until you reach the last 4 dc of the row. Sk the next dc, (1 ps, ch 4, 1 ps)in the next dc, sk the next dc, 1 hdc in the last dc of the row, turn. [2 hdc, 106 ps, 52 ch1sp, 53 ch4sp]
R3: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc). *Sk the next ps, (3 dc, ch 1) in the next ch4sp, sk the next ps and the next ch1sp**. Work from * to ** across to the second last ps. Sk the second last ps, (3 dc) in the next ch4sp, sk the last ps, 1 dc in the last hdc, turn. [161 dc, 52 ch1sp]
R4-R25: Rep R2 and R3.
