The Cozy Texture Crochet Scarf is a simple, wearable design worked lengthwise in rows using the griddle stitch. This stitch pattern creates a balanced texture that looks polished on both sides while keeping the project relaxing to crochet.

Made with Red Heart Soft in the color Wheat, this scarf has a smooth finish and beautiful drape. It’s a practical accessory you can wear every day or gift to someone special.

The free written pattern is available in my post below, or if you prefer, you can purchase the ad-free PDF crochet pattern from my shop.

For help on any of these stitches or techniques you can refer to the tutorials included in my free online crochet stitch guide.

This Simple Stitch Creates the Perfect Textured Scarf

About the Design

This scarf is worked lengthwise, which means you begin by chaining the full length of the scarf and then work back and forth across the width. This construction gives you clean edges and allows the texture to shine from end to end.

The griddle stitch creates a steady rhythm of alternating stitches. It’s easy to memorize and gives the fabric a subtle, structured look without becoming stiff.

The finished fabric is soft, flexible, and comfortable to wear.

Matching Hat Pattern

A coordinating hat pattern is available to create a matching set. This makes a thoughtful handmade gift and a practical addition to your cold-weather wardrobe. The Cozy Texture Hat pattern will be released next week.

The Yarn

Red Heart Soft

Yarnspirations Red Heart Soft is a #4 medium (worsted) 100% acrylic yarn known for its extreme softness and beautiful drape, making it a great choice for scarves, cowls, and other cozy wearables. It comes in a wide range of colors and works up nicely with a 5.5 mm (I) crochet hook.

Notes:

  • Multiple of 2+1
  • When I work into the foundation chain, I prefer working into the back bar (back bump) of the chain. You can work under the back loop only if you prefer.
  • The turning ch 1 does not count as a stitch and we do not work into it.
  • If you’d like to increase the scarf length, chain more stitches using the stitch multiple.
  • If you’d like to increase the width of the project, work more rows following the stitch repeat.
