Cheerful Child Emma Square
By Carolyn Christmas
Cheerful Child is a baby blanket CAL on pinkmambo.com that appears every Monday and Thursday January 7-February 18, 2016. It features granny-style blocks in a variety of designs, all on the easy side. Its skill level is adventurous beginner, which means the crocheter has knowledge of the basic stitches and is ready to take on a larger, more involved project with a little more texture and combinations of stitches. Experienced crocheters will enjoy the fun of making these fresh and pretty blocks as well.
Each square features round by round photos and written instructions. I hope you will join in the fun of making this cheery, pretty blanket, starting with the Emma square which is featured exclusively here on Rhondda’s blog.
Size
6” square
Materials
5 colors worsted/aran weight yarn. I used I Love This Yarn by Hobby Lobby in the following colors:
A Pink

I/9/5.50mm hook
Gauge: Gauge is not critical with this project. To get the size shown, rounds 1-4 measure 3 1/4 inches.

On behalf of the Oombawka Design readers and myself, I would like to Thank Carolyn for sharing her current crochet-a-long with us and this beautiful pattern for a 6″ Afghan Square. Visit Carolyn’s blog, pinkmambo.com from January 7 to February 18, 2016 for the remainder of the CAL squares and make a beautiful child-sized blanket . The CAL blanket squares will be released every Monday and Thursday until February 18, 2016.
This square is so beautiful, it takes my breath away! Thank you so much!!
CANNOT PRINT THIS PATTERN. WOULD LOVE TO.
Hi Carmen, I do not have a graph of the pattern available. I have contacted the Designer, to let her know you have requested this if it is possible. All the best, Rhondda
Hi Brenda, I checked myself and asked another person to check. The Printfriendly button at the end of the post does work and is printing and saving the PDF of the post. I’m not sure why it isn’t working for you – unless you have a pop up blocker on your browser bar which is stopping the pop up screen for the Printfriendly from working. If you view your browser bar at the top of the screen it will have a little icon on the far right that shows up when you click on the Printfriendly if it is blocking the action. Click on the little icon on the browser bar and it should open a window where you can allow pop ups from this site. I do not have any pop up ads on the site so they only things the pop up blocker will block on my site would be Printfriendly. Hope this helps! Rhondda
Hi. I’m also doing the CAL and the print friendly button is not working for me either. I have tried over and over.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Rhondda good day. I love this granny, I would appreciate if you could send me a graph of the 2nd round thus not see how.
Thank you very much for your sake do.
Greetings,
Carmen
What I love about this square is that I NEVER would have thought of putting those colors together–key lime and desert glaze with pink? But the combination is gorgeous! Thank you so much for sharing.
Hi Sabrina, Print Friendly should be working fine – I contacted them and they said there is nothing wrong with the app 🙂 Hope it works for you now! Rhondda
the print friendly is not working for the Emma square. I am doing the CAL and can not get this pattern to print. Thank you for your help
