The Pattern
Capaldi is a tee style top created in 2 pieces, bottom up. It is then seamed across the shoulder and from sleeve down to hem. Tee is slightly cropped with shaping in shoulder for a less boxy look. When you share your finished Capaldi Tops online use #CapaldiTee

- Yarn: Berroco Remix. 216 yds (200 m) and 3.5 oz (100 g). 30% Nylon, 27% Cotton, 24% Acrylic, 10% Silk and 9% Linen. Aran/Medium Weight Yarn [4]. Machine wash. Lay flat to dry.
- Color: Pepper (#3993)
- Hook: 5 mm (H)
- Number of Skeins of Yarn Needed: 3 (3, 3, 3, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7)

Special Stitches
Back ridge rather than working under the top loops or ‘V’ of foundation chain, turn chain upside-down, insert hook under the single strand of yarn that is bump / ridge-like in appearance.
Cl (Cluster) (Yo, insert hook into st indicated, pull up a loop, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook) twice, yo, draw through 3 loops on hook.
Stacked dc (Stacked double crochet) Sc in indicated st, insert hook from front to back in leftmost back vertical bar of sc just made, pull up a loop, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook. You may replace this stitch with traditional ch 3 if desired.
Dec A (Decrease A) Yo, insert hook into st indicated, pull up a loop, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook, insert hook into same st, pull up a loop, yo, draw through 3 loops on hook.
Dec B (Decrease B) (Sc, dc) in indicated st. When working into Dec B on following row, work only into dc, leave sc unworked.
End Cl (Ending cluster) Yo, insert hook into st indicated, pull up a loop, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook, yo, insert hook into next st indicated, pull up a loop, yo, draw through 3 loops on hook, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook.

- Pattern is written for 11-sizes
- Sizes given in parentheses: 40 (44, 48, …).
- If only one number is given, it applies to all sizes.
- When working across chains for Sleeves, it will create a 1/2 twist in chain, this will not affect the garment; this twist will not be visible after seaming.
- Top is worked flat in 2 pieces, bottom-up, then seamed at shoulder and sides.

Capaldi Top Pattern Instructions
The Capaldi Top is worked flat, in 2-pieces, from the bottom-up, before being seamed at the shoulders and sides.
Using your 5 mm (H) hook (or size required for gauge:
Set up Ch 56 (64, 72, 80, 84, 92, 100, 104, 112, 120, 128), sc in back ridge {see Special Stitches} of 2nd ch, sc in back ridge of each ch across to end, turn. 55 (63, 71, 79, 83, 91, 99, 103, 111, 119, 127) sts
Row 1 Stacked dc {see Special Stitches} in first st, dc in each st across to end, turn.
- PM through any st of row just made to mark RS.

Finishing Instructions
Block pieces to measurements.
Shoulder Seam
Having right sides together, using long tail, join Front to Back with sl st, going under 2 loops from each side, beginning at the neckline, sl st evenly across shoulder to marker at sleeve opening.
Fasten off.
Repeat for second shoulder.
Side Seam
Using a length of yarn approximately 5 times the length of side seam and sleeve, join Front to Back with sl st, picking up 1 loop on each fabric piece sl st evenly from hem to sleeve opening.
Repeat for second side.
Fasten off. Remove marker(s), weave in ends.
Neck Edging
Row 1 With RS facing, join new yarn in either shoulder seam with sl st, evenly sc around neckline by working into the side edges of stitches, being mindful to keep tension same as stitches of tee, do not turn.
Row 2 Sl st in FLO of each sc across.
Fasten off.
For best results, steam or dampen at seams neck edge and lay flat to dry.
