The Betsy Crochet Hat Pattern features the Iris Stitch. This pretty stitch is created simply by using double crochet stitches and chain one spaces.
The pattern is written in sizes Preemie to Adult Large and is available for free in my post below.

- Yarn: Caron Jumbo Ombre Yarn. 340 g (12 oz) and 595 yds (544 m). 100% Acrylic. Medium-Weight Yarn [4]. Machine wash and tumble dry.

You can substitute any yarn and hook for this stitch pattern – just remember when you substitute if your gauge is different, the finished size, and amount of yarn used for your project will also be different.

- The sl st does not count as a stitch
- Make your sl st tightly
- You may customize the Betsy Hat height by working the repeat as many, or as few, times as you wish. Every 2 rounds you add with the stitch pattern, will add approximately 1-inch of height to the hat.
- I use an invisible join to finish off my final round of stitches, you may substitute a sl st to join if you prefer.

Hi Elizabeth, It was a copy/paste error. I apologize for the confusion. I’ve updated the numbers in the post now to be sequential (i.e. making the second Row 6, Row 7…and changing the other rows to be, 8, 9…etc.). Thank you for letting me know this was written incorrectly! Rhondda
