BERRIES JUBILEE HAT Pattern

BERRIES JUBILEE HAT FREE PATTERN OOMBAWKA DESIGN

Let’s make it a set shall we? I recently published the free pattern for the Berries Jubilee Infinity Scarf and my daughter has officially claimed it as her own. It is meant for an adult but she totally loves it and I love it because now when she is out playing she comes home wearing her scarf (since it is an infinity loop it stays on!). I had one extra ball of the Red Heart with Love, Plum Jam yarn on hand so I whipped up a matching hat for her to wear with it. I’ve added a few sizes here for you – in case you don’t need the small child size for yourself. This is a one skein project.

Notes

  • You will be crocheting this hat in the round. To hide the joins on the ‘increase rounds’ you will be working a slip stitch into the first dc of the round. This will position the slip stitch immediately above the initial ch 3 that was worked and mimic the appearance of the double crochet stitches. We will be working into the slip stitches as stitches after R1. In this way we will ‘hide’ the joins a bit and make the top of the hat neat and tidy.
  • Shell: 5 dc in one st
  • Beg Ch 5 counts as 1 dc and ch 2.
  • Sl st does not count as a stitch in the row end count but you will be working into it as a stitch when indicated
  • Initial ch 3 counts as a dc in the row end count

On Round 5 is an error: It should be 1 dc in each of the 3(three) sts.

Is the scarf available? I don’t see the pattern. Just get started. I can follow the gay pattern if I can just get it started.

Hi Jean, the numbers in square brackets at the end are the stitch counts for the round/row. So that round has 9 double crochets, 18 chain 2 and 9 single crochets. Hope this helps! Rhondda

In process of making Berries Jubilee Hat for Toddler/Small Child. R7 has stopped me. I do not understand the 9dc, 18 ch2, 9sc at the end. I am in hopes you can better explain.
