Some of these free patterns include video tutorials, some include photo edging tutorials and others provide written instructions only.
Add the perfect finishing touch to your next crochet project with these perfect crochet borders, crochet edgings and trims. I’ve even included some Vintage Edging options in case you like vintage crochet patterns as much as I do!
Here some free vintage flower edging pattern examples: Forget Me Not Edging, African Violet Edging, Little Daisy Edging, Rose Edging and a Pansy Edging. You can always switch up the yarn weight and crochet hook size to add these to a larger project!
Let me know if there is a particular edging you are searching for and I will try to find it and add it to this collection!
Remember edgings will require a specific number of stitches to work properly. So pay attention to the stitch multiple for the edging pattern of your choice.
Be sure to check your chosen edging pattern to see how many stitches you will need, before you finish your project. That way, you will be able to ‘fudge’ (add an extra or skip a stitch) on your final round (or row) to make the stitch count ready for it’s eye-catching crochet edging!

If you are a looking for a easy border to add to your next baby blanket or afghan, start with a simple single crochet border.
Then add a final round of crab stitch. It’s not as difficult as it may appear (check out my tutorial here). If you are unable to master the crab stitch (reverse single crochet) you may want to try the twisted single crochet instead. Watch Kinga’s video tutorial here.
Or try one of these picot borders: Picot Edge or Picot and Lace Edging
You could try a simple moss stitch border which is crocheted with single crochet stitches and chain stitches (see: Moss Stitch Border).
Add a fun crochet edging using double crochet stitches (dc), single crochet (sc) and chain stitches (ch). It creates texture with a little bobble stitches around your finished crochet blanket (see: Bobble Edging).
For a lovely finished look, you may want to have an edging that includes a picot stitch (see: Persian Dream Border).

You can crochet with a lighter lace weight thread crochet cotton instead of yarn and add a delicate Lace Trim Handkerchief edging, or an eyelet lace edging.
