It’s time to get ready for a Beach Day! Let’s all get pedicures and show off our pretty feet with a pair of Beach Day Barefoot Sandals! Perfect for a beach day gathering, a party by the pool or even a special event like a wedding on the beach, these barefoot sandals are easy to crochet and easy to size larger, or smaller for different sized feet! I have filmed a full video pattern for these and it takes less than 30 minutes, from start to finish, to crochet each barefoot sandal. Remember you can easily speed up the video using the controls available (or even slow it down if I go to quickly!).
The videos are filmed in High Definition so they are viewed best at High Definition. Just in case you notice my lovely bruised hand – I had surgery 3 days prior to filming and this is from my IV (OUCH!). I do leave the screen on the video near the beginning but only the one time while I was getting settled. All you miss is the second wrap of the yarn going around for the DMR – you can simply opt to make a MR instead or wrap your yarn two times around your hand before beginning.

- Yarn: Premier® Yarns Cotton Fair® Solids and Multis Yarn (Fine Weight [2]; 3.5 oz/100 g; 317 yds/290m; 52% Cotton, 48% Acrylic) Colors: White (Color A), Blue Iris (Color B) and Turquoise (Color C)
- Hook: Clover 1042/D Orange Amour Crochet Hook, Size D, 3.25 mm or 4 mm (G) hook (in the video I used my Furls Olivewood Alpha Series Crochet Hook)
- Scissors, Yarn Needle, Stitch Marker (optional)
Difficulty Level

Finished Size
Using a 3.25 mm (D): 3 inches wide (base of triangle), 3 inches tall (midpoint of triangle)
Using a 4 mm (G) hook: 3.5 inches wide (base of triangle), 3.5 inches tall (midpoint of triangle)
Toe strap is approximately 2 inches assembled. When you measure before you join it is 4 inches long.
Ankle ties are approximately 25 inches long without being stretched.
Gauge
Is not really imperative; my original pair (photographed) were crocheted using a 3.25 mm hook. The video was filmed while using a 4 mm hook as I wanted to be able to give you both size measurements 🙂
Gauge: ties: 5 chains per inch (approximately)
5 sts per inch (approximately) with a 3.25 mm (D) hook or 4 mm (G) hook – the difference in gauge comes from the finished height of the stitches which because this is such a small project is very hard to measure accurately per row. I have provided to finished sizes in the finished size section above. The larger hook will give you a triangle which is about a half inch larger all around.

ch3sp – chain 3 space
ch6sp – chain 6 space
dc – double crochet
dc4tog cluster – double crochet 4 together worked all in the same stitch to form a cluster
DMR – double magic ring (exactly like a magic ring except you wrap it twice instead of once before beginning)
FPdc – Front Post Double Crochet
hdc – half double crochet
R – row/round
rep – repeat
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
st/sts – stitch/stitches
* – Repeat the instructions between the asterisks the number of times indicated. This repeat will contain of multiple instructions.
() – Repeat the instructions between the parentheses the number of times indicated.

Special Stitches
dc4tog cluster: this is worked into a single stitch or chain space
*Yarn over, insert your hook into the specified stitch (or space), yarn over and pull up 1 loop. Yarn over and pull through 2 of the loops on your hook.** Rep from * to ** 3 more times. You will now have 5 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops to complete the stitch.
Notes
- If you would like these to be a little bit bigger, use a 4 mm hook.
- The foot wearing the Barefoot Sandals is mine and I am a size 8.5 Canada/USA (39 Euro and 6.5 UK).
- You can easily change the length of the toe strap by decreasing or increasing the number of chains worked in R3 for the toe strap.
- You can also easily change the length of the ankle ties by decreasing or increasing the number of chains worked for the Ankle Straps – this will allow a more customized fit.

Pattern Instructions
Free Crochet Pattern Alert! Beach Day Barefoot Sandals. Full Video Pattern is available!The barefoot sandals are worked in rounds. You will need to repeat the pattern instructions twice to have two sandals. For a stitch pattern diagram please scroll to the end of the post.
R1: With Color A: Make a DMR, ch 1 (bringing the loop of the ch 1 up to the approximate height of a double crochet), *dc4tog cluster, ch 3, dc4tog cluster, ch 6**. Rep from * to ** 2 more times. Sl st to join in the top of the first dc4tog cluster. Finish off and weave in ends.
R2: With Color B: Join with a standing hdc in any ch3sp and work 1 more hdc in the same ch3sp. Work 1 FPdc around the post of the next dc4tog cluster. In the next ch6sp work: 3 hdc, ch 3, 3 hdc. *1 FPdc around the post of the next dc4tog cluster; 3 hdc in the next ch3sp; 1 FPdc around the post of the next dc4tog cluster; (3 hdc, ch 3, 3 hdc) in the next ch6sp**. Rep from * to ** 1 more time. Work 1 hdc in the next ch3sp (the same one you joined to at the beginning of the round). Finish off with an invisible join and weave in ends.
R3: With Color C: Join with a standing hdc in the back bar of the first hdc crocheted in R2 (the standing hdc). 1 hdc in the back bar of the next hdc, 1 FPdc around the FPdc, 1 hdc in the back bar of each of the next 3 hdc. Work 3 dc in the next ch3sp. Ch 23 and sl st to the first ch to join (this forms the loop that goes over the toe), work 3 more dc in the same ch3sp. *1 hdc in the back bar of each of the next 3 hdc, (1 FPdc around the FPdc, 1 hdc in the back bar of each of the next 3 hdc) twice; (3 dc, ch 3 and sl st to the first ch worked to form a picot, 3 dc) in the next ch3sp**. Rep from * to ** one more time. 1 hdc in the back bar of each of the next 3 hdc. 1 FPdc around the last FPdc, 1 hdc in the back bar of the last hdc of the round. Finish off with an invisible join and weave in ends.
Ankle Straps
Rejoin your yarn (Color C) with a sl st in one of the corner picots and ch 125 to create one tie. Finish off and weave in your ends.
Rejoin your yarn (Color C) with a sl st in the other corner picot st and ch 125 to create the second tie. Finish off and weave in ends.
