This month I have chosen a baby pattern to crochet…just because I want to crochet it. It sounds funny doesn’t it? But honestly with managing my website, designing and writing patterns and taking care of my family, I rarely have time to crochet for the pleasure of crocheting.

Baby Pattern: Crochet Bear Hat and Diaper Cover

The pattern I have chosen to make this month is a free pattern from Red Heart that was designed by Michele Wilcox.  The Crochet Bear Hat and Diaper Cover is a cute little set and it is available in 3 different sizes.

Instructions

Instructions are included for babies aged 3 months, 6 months and 12 months.

3 Months. Diaper cover waist: 15 inches [38 cm] and hat circumference at bottom edge: 13 inches [33 cm].
6 Months. Diaper cover waist: 16 inches [40.5 cm]  and hat circumference at bottom edge: 14 inches [35.5 cm].
12 Months. Diaper cover waist: 17 inches [43 cm] and hat circumference at bottom edge: 15 inches  [38 cm].

The pattern is written in U.S. Crochet terms and it is listed as an Intermediate level project.

The yarn used to design the pattern is one of my favorites and it is perfect for babies. It has been Tested for Harmful Substances and it is super soft.

Yarn: 2 balls of Red Heart Babyhugs Medium yarn. 4.5 oz / 127 g ; 247 yds / 225 m. Machine Wash and Dry. No dye lot. I chose 1 each of colors Teddy and Shell.

Hooks: Susan Bates 4 mm (G-6 US) and 5 mm (H-8 US) Silvalume Soft Ergonomic Crochet Hooks

Accessories: Susan Bates Stitchpins, Susan Bates 2.75 inch steel yarn needle and scissors.
