Welcome back Crocheters! Last week I shared a brand new crochet kitten pattern with you and this week, I’m sharing the Kitten Baby Lovey Crochet Blankie Pattern.
This super soft and cuddly kitten baby lovey is crocheted with A Star is Born Naptime (Bonus Bundle) yarn that I ordered from Michaels online this year. The blankie is crocheted with a 5.5 mm (I) hook and the kitten head and arms is crocheted with a 3.75 mm (F) hook.
NOTE: If you are picking up your favorite colors in Naptime and you can’t find the Bonus Bundles, you can get the regular balls instead, you will just need to get more than 1 skein in each. If you can find the Bonus Bundles, 1 ball in each color will make you the Kitten Baby Lovey AND the Amigurumi Kitten (with yarn left over).
Kitten Baby Lovey Crochet Blankie Pattern
Supplies
Yarn: Lion Brand, A Star is Born: Naptime Bonus Bundle Yarn. 240 g (8.5 oz) and 735 yds (672 m). 100% Polyester. Medium-Weight Yarn [4]. Machine wash, lay flat to dry.
Baby Kitten Lovey: Approximately 6 rows per 4 inches and 3 sets of (3 dc, ch 1) per 4 inches worked in pattern Kitten: Approximately 5 rows per 1 inch and 4 sc per 1 inch
You can substitute any yarn and hook for this stitch pattern – just remember when you substitute if your gauge is different, the finished size, and amount of yarn used for your project will also be different.
You may substitute a ch-3 and slip stitch to the first ch to form a ring, or a magic ring, for the double magic ring.
Initial ch-3 counts as 1 dc.
Slip Stitches (sl st) do not count as stitches and we do not work into them.
The entire baby lovey is crocheted into the chain spaces (ch1sp, ch2sp), we skip all the other stitches (unless specified).
I usually start rounds with a color change with a standing st. If you prefer a sl st join and a turning chain, feel free to substitute. For example, see the R1 of the Edging Section.
Using your 5.5 mm (I) hook (or size required for gauge):

Crochet Kitten Finishing Instructions
Attach the arms to the head using CC yarn. Sew the head and arms to the lovey using MC yarn.
For the Kitten’s Ears, fold the circle in half along the diameter with the open end of the ear (last round of stitches) facing downwards. The open end (last round of stitches) are where you will sew the ears the kitten’s head. The center of the circle (R1) being the tip (point) of the ear. Place the ears on the head. Slightly pinch them in the center near the base to create a curve to shape the ear then sew them to the kitten’s head.
I worked under one loop of each stitch for the cat body and one loop of the stitch of the arm (leg, tail, ear) for each stitch I made in the final round of the arm (leg, tail, ear). Weave in ends securely.
Weave in all ends securely.
For the kitten’s nose and eyelashes I used the MC yarn and my yarn needle and hand stitched them. Do not pull tightly as it will cause the face to pucker where you make your stitches. Please see the following image for placement.
Hi Sue, You’re right! I totally did not put that part of the pattern into the assembly instructions. I apologize!

I’ve updated the pattern to include the additional information. Thank you for letting me know it was missed, Rhondda
The ears don’t make sense. They are round and there are not instructions on how to attach them to make them pointed.
