This is a quick baby bean stitch tutorial to show you how to crochet this small puff stitch with one-strand of medium weight yarn. The tutorial demonstrates this technique with Red Heart Super Saver Stripes Yarn [4] and a 5.5 mm (I) Furls Streamline Hook in Ebony. I have included a list of some of the free patterns available using the baby bean stitch at the end of this post.

Baby Bean Stitch
Insert your hook into the specified stitch (or stitch space) yarn over and pull up one loop (2 loops on the hook), yarn over the hook and insert your hook into the same specified stitch (or stitch space), yarn over and pull up one loop (4 loops on the hook). Yarn over and pull through all 4 loops on the hook to complete the baby bean stitch.
Baby Bean Stitch Tutorial Instructions
- Insert your hook into the specified stitch (or space). Yarn over the hook. Pull up 1 loop.
- Yarn over the hook.
- Insert your hook into the same stitch (or space). Yarn over the hook.
- Pull up 1 loop. You now have 4 loops on your hook.
- Yarn over the hook.
- Pull through all 4 loops on the hook to complete the stitch.
