The Pattern
One of the easiest ways to add a little texture and style to your home is by adding a pretty crocheted rug.
Making a crocheted rug can be a great way to use up some of your scrap yarn (stashbuster project!). Or, why not try a new yarn, or fiber to work with, like bulky yarn, fabric from old t-shirts, ropes or cotton cords. You can even use multiple strands of finer weight yarns held together to make your rug.
Instructions are included to make this rug larger, which will be helpful if you are using a different kind of yarn for your project. So pick the yarn or fiber of your choice, in your favorite color (or one to match your home décor) and let’s get to work!
Today I am sharing an easy pattern for a Crochet Macramé Cord Area Rug. I’ve used cotton Macramé cord which gives it a lovely texture and bulky look, plus it works up very quickly! Find the written instructions below in the post and if you need the round-by-round photos, they are located at the end of the post.

Notes
- For this whole pattern, the starting chain 2 is not counted as a stitch. This is just to bring the yarn to a working height. Start the Double Crochet in the same stitch.
