I use a DMR (double magic ring) to begin my projects that are worked in the round. You may substitute a magic ring (magic circle), or a chain 3 and slip stitch to form a ring, if you prefer.
To increase the height of Annie’s Simple Crochet Hat, work extra repeat rounds. Every 3 rounds worked in hdc will add approximately 1 extra inch of height.
