Here’s how it works.

Happy Fall Crochet Friends! I thought you might like to start this month off with a free Simple Fall Cap Crochet Pattern. This project should take you about an hour to make.

The main hat pattern is crocheted with Medium Weight / Worsted Weight Yarn [4] and a 5.5 mm crochet hook (size I). For the hat brim we switch to a 5 mm crochet hook (size H).

The stitches used for this hat include basic crochet stitches, like double crochet (dc), half double crochet (hdc), single crochet (sc), chain stitches (ch) and slip stitches (sl st). You will also need to know how to make a Front Post Double Crochet stitch (FPdc). But don’t worry if you don’t know how to make one because I have a tutorial you can refer to to show you how it’s done.

A Simple Fall Cap Crochet Pattern

This easy to crochet fall hat takes very little time to make and the pattern includes multiple sizes from baby to adult large. You can use your favorite Medium Weight Yarn for this project. If you like the hat, but do not want to have the brim, you can simply work one more repeat row for your hat size and finish off and weave in your ends.

If you’d like your hat to have a bit of slouch, work additional repeat rounds until you have a hat the height you want. The pattern is easy to adjust and this billed hat looks fantastic on!

Create this cute and cozy fall cap in an hour or less! This free crochet pattern includes instructions for baby to adult large sizes. Incorporate your favorite Medium Weight Yarn for a warm and fashionable accessory. Get ready to cozy up for autumn with this easy crochet pattern!

The Yarn

The yarn I used to make this project bag is called Golden Coast Craft Yarn. I found it similar in texture, softness and durability to other Worsted Weight Yarns on the market (like Red Heart Super Saver and Bernat Super Value Yarns) and it has an affordable price-point too.

This 100% Acrylic yarn is machine washable and it comes in 23 different colors. Each ball contains 7 oz (198 g) and 370 yds (338 m). I used less than 1 ball to complete this project.

You can see all the available colors of Golden Coast Craft yarn here. The blue color was consistent through the entire ball of yarn and there were zero knots or ties in the balls I used. Just one strand of yarn all the way through the ball.

At the time of this post, each ball could be purchased for $3.99 USD, at Fabric Wholesale Direct.
