Maria of MillyVanilly Handmade recently designed this lovely scarf pattern:
Pattern: Crochet Chiavetta Scarf
Designer: MillyVanilly Handmade
Cost: $7.00
I was happy to receive a copy of her pattern – it can get mighty cold here in Southern Ontario!
When I first saw Maria’s pattern I was intrigued by how the scarf threaded through itself to fit securely around the neck. I like the idea of my scarf staying put and being able to wear it outside my coat.
Usually I have to tuck the one end around my neck and down the back of my jacket to ensure it doesn’t unwind itself and slide off my shoulders. It feels so bulky when I wear my scarf under my coat all the time!
Maria’s scarf is beautiful in its simplicity – it can be a trendy addition to your winter wardrobe.
I have only now realized, I threaded the scarf in a slightly different manner than Maria’s scarves were fastened. I hope this over site on my part does not detract from the loveliness of the scarf.
The length of the scarf is perfect for me and the ribbed effect gives it great texture.
I chose to use Loops & Threads Charisma yarn in white and black. I needed 2-skeins of each colour to make the colour block version of the scarf.
The pattern calls for worsted weight yarn – but I was unable to locate any with a soft enough texture at the Michaels when I went shopping.
The Charisma yarn is so very soft and warm; using it made my scarf slightly heavier than the design intended but I love the finished result. The scarf is so soft and snuggly!
After you fasten/thread the scarf to secure it, you still have plenty of length left to wrap it over your shoulders – I love that about it! Sometimes you just need to get the scarf out of the way when you have little ones trying to grab the ends all the time!
I would like to thank Maria for letting me try her Crochet Chiavetta Scarf pattern.
It was a delight to crochet – her pattern was very straightforward and easy to follow. I had no questions and was able to complete it in one evening.

P.S. If you aren’t up to crocheting one yourself, Maria also has some already crocheted for you in her shop 🙂
Happy crocheting!
