Tread Pattern Stitch
Yarn: Red Heart with Love (worsted weight)
Hook: 5.00 mm Furls Blackwood Crochet Hook
Finished Measurements when blocked 8″ x 8″
(3 dc sts = approximately 1″)
Stitch Pattern Multiple: multiple of 8 sts + 3 sts; add 2 more sts for the beginning chain
Abbreviations: st – stitch, sts – stitches, ch – chain, chs – chains, dc – double crochet, tch – turning chain, sc – single crochet, R – row, RS – right side, repeat from * to * – repeat the instructions between the two * * as specified
Chain 29 sts
R1 (RS): skip the first 3 chs (these skipped sts count as 1 dc), 1 dc into each of the next 2 chs, *skip the next 2 chs, 1 dc in the next ch, ch 3, work 3 dc sts evenly into the side of the last dc st you crocheted, skip the next 2 chs, 1 dc into each of the next 3 chs* repeat from * to * across, turn
R2: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), skip the 1st st, 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts, *ch 2, 1 sc into the top ch (the 3rd ch st you made), ch 2, skip the rest of the sts worked into the side of the dc st, 1 dc in each of the next 3 sts* repeat from * to * across, working the last dc of the row in the top of the tch, turn
R3: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), skip the 1st st, 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts, *skip the 2 chs, 1 dc in the next sc, ch 3, work 3 dc sts evenly into the side of the last dc st you crocheted, skip the next 2 chs, 1 dc in each of the next 3 sts*; repeat from * to * across, working the last dc of the row in the top of the tch, turn
Repeat R2 and R3 – 4 times
Repeat R2 one more time then proceed to edging
Edging:
ch 1, turn so the RS of your work is facing you, sc across the top row evenly a total of 27 times,
ch 1 ,turn to work along the row ends, sc across the row ends evenly a total of 27 times,
ch 1, turn to work along the starting chain row, sc across the starting chain row evenly a total of 27 times,
ch 1, turn to work along the row ends, sc across the row ends evenly a total of 27 times, finish off and weave in ends
