Angels Around the World Book Review

Angels Around the World includes crochet patterns for 8 different Angel designs. These beautiful designs require some work to finish but they are extraordinary and perfect for adorning your home during the holidays, or even, through the year.

The designs are crocheted with number 10 crochet thread and size a 7 crochet hook. The Irish Angel also requires a size 10 steel crochet hook.

Other supplies you need for these designs include:

  • 1 inch Styrofoam ball (head)
  • metallic cord
  • chenille stems (arms)
  • polyester fiberfill
  • sewing thread and embroidery needle
  • ribbon and other fibers
  • some require beads
  • Finishing: 7 inch by 7 inch piece of cardboard, poster board, fabric stiffener, 3 plastic sandwich bags, plastic wrap, transparent tape, craft glue, soft toothbrush, clear non-yellowing spray glaze, rustproof straight pins

The written instructions are detailed and include diagrams and illustrations to help you with the finishing and assembly of your Angels. Special stitches are included within each pattern itself. Bold fonts indicate each Rnd or Row beginning point and italic uppercase text is used to indicate each subheading and section.

The patterns included are:

  • Southwest Angel. 7.5 inches tall.
  • Japanese Angel. 8.75 inches tall.
  • Scandinavian Angel. 7.25 inches tall.
  • African American Angel. 7.25 inches tall.
  • Mexican Angel. 7.25 inches tall.
  • Irish Angel. 7.5 inches tall.
  • Country Angel. 8.25 inches tall.
  • Patriotic Angel. 8.25 inches tall.

The Angels in this collection are beautiful. The only issue I had was determining which Angel belonged to which pattern because images were not included with the written instructions and no notes were provided to indicate which Angel was which on the front or back cover.

On the front cover, from left to right we have Southwest Angel, Country Angel (center) and Japanese Angel. On the back cover we have Scandinavian Angel (top left), Irish Angel (center), Mexican Angel (top right). The bottom two angels from left to right are Patriotic Angel and African American Angel.

I love the designs in this book. The Angels are breathtaking and although there will be a bit of extra effort needed in the creation and the finishing they require, each Angel is a work of art that I would be happy to have on display in my home
