Learn Tunisian Crochet in the Round
Learn Tunisian Crochet in the Round is 50-pages in length and includes a detailed step-by-step photo tutorial to teach the technique required to work Tunisian in the round, along with patterns to make 6-projects.
In the Introduction, you learn more about the technique (TITR – Tunisian in the Round) and the Designer, Sandy Walker.
She explains that for these projects you will be using double-ended hooks in 2 different sizes. The larger hook will be used for the forward pass and the smaller hook will be used for the return pass.
The recommended hook sizes are:
Medium Weight Yarn : Forward Pass: 8 mm (L) and Return Pass: 6.5 mm (K)
Light Weight Yarn : Forward Pass: 6 mm (J) and Return Pass: 5.5 mm (I)
Cable Length: recommended 16-inches or longer for large projects.
On page 4, be sure to read the information included in the Foundation Row (under Regular Tunisian Crochet Tips). It outlines how to begin your chain and how to work into your foundation row stitches. Page 4 also includes Tunisian Abbreviations and Techniques.
The Techniques section explains that TITR uses 2 connected hooks and 2 balls of yarn, that you will be turning your work and that the forward pass will be worked with the RS (right side) facing and the return pass will be worked with the WS (wrong side) facing. It also mentions that passes will be completed in stages to finish each round. More detail is provided on page 4, specific to the projects that you choose to work (so don’t skip page 4).
The Photo Tutorial can be found on pages 5-8 and includes 16 photos.
Reading Stitch Charts begins on page 9. It includes written instructions to teach you how to read the chart for Rounds 1 to 8 of Penny’s Hook and Yarn Tote (side 1 chart). If you are new to TITR I strongly recommend you work this as your practice project to learn how to read the charts because it is the only pattern included that includes step-by-step written instructions for the chart. The other designs refer mostly to the chart itself in the written instructions, so you will need to know how to follow the charts to make them.
