Notes:

Multiple of 4 + 2 (Understanding Stitch Multiples)

When I work into the foundation chain, I prefer working into the back bar (back bump) of the chain. You can work under the back loop only if you prefer.

You may customize the height of the hat by working the repeat of R2 as many, or as few, times as you wish.

Finishing Instructions for All Hat Sizes

On a flat surface, fold your project in half widthwise; bringing the two side edges together. Thread your yarn end on a yarn needle and work through both layers; whipstitch (view tutorial here) once for each row along the edge. I work under one loop of the stitch on each edge.

Once you have finished whipstitching the side edge and you reach the foundation row, we will be closing the top of the hat using my simple closing method. This method is demonstrated here.

There may be a small hole remaining at the top of the hat for the larger sizes. I used the remaining yarn on my yarn needle to sew four stitches (across the diameter of the hole) to close the small gap that remained after closing the top and then wove the end in snuggly and securely on the inside of the hat. If you prefer, you may use a pom pom to hide the small hole.

Weave in any remaining ends securely.
