Now Dolly needs a crochet dress. This is an 18 inch doll clothes pattern. Crochet this one-piece dress for dolly. The crocheted dress will fit most 18 inch dolls. The pattern is worked in one piece from start to finish and uses a striped yarn so you don’t need to change colors! The dress looks beautiful in a single color too.
This pattern fits (I have tried it on all 3 of these brands): My Life as Dolls, Our Generation 18 Inch Dolls and American Girl Dolls. The pattern is not affiliated or designed for any one single ‘brand’ and I honestly cannot recommend one brand over another as my children love each doll equally.

This simple to crochet doll dress is perfect for Dolly! Sized and shaped to fit an 18″ doll, the doll dress is crocheted using medium weight [4] yarn and a 6 mm (J) hook. The dress is initially worked back and forth in rows. After row 12 the dress is finished in continuous rounds. The dress is worked all in one piece. This is a fun to crochet and a simple project to make for 18″ dolls. Pair this with the Simple Spring Vest for Dolly to make a set. This dress will look lovely in a single color yarn.

Notes
- This dress is worked back and forth in rows until you complete R12. The remainder of the project is worked in continuous rounds. You may wish to use a stitch marker to mark your place.
- When we skip the stitches to create the armhole, you can simple squeeze the fabric closer to allow you to sc into the next stitch without making it extra big.
- If you wish to add a small button or clasp to the back of the dress please see the one I used in this post: Coat and Hat for Dolly Darla did not want a closure as the back fabric almost touches (after being taken off and put on repeatedly) and it is easier for her to manage when she is changing her doll’s clothing a zillion times a day.
- The project is worked in one piece from start to finish. I did not change yarn colors I simply worked with the yarn straight from the skein.
- Fits 18″ Dolls like American Girl, Our Generation and My Life as

Hi Sharon 🙂

Hope this helps!
Rhondda
Hi, do I join at beginning of row 13 or end of the row to start continuous rounds?
Hi Carrie, you can email it to me if you’d like 🙂 or if you are on Ravelry you can create a project page and I can see it there too! Thank you for trying the pattern! Darla’s one doll has a larger behind too and it makes the dress shorter at that back a bit. I guess they don’t stuff them all the same!! All the best, Rhondda
I loved the dress. It turned out great. Just my granddaughter doll has a large behind…so its as little snug. Wish I could send you a pic of the dress…short vest and purse.
Love this dress. So simple yet stylish. Thank you.
