Tapestry Crochet Basics includes step-by-step photo tutorials that demonstrate 3 different tapestry crochet stitch techniques. It also includes 6 projects that you can crochet to practice your new skills.
The tutorials included demonstrate how to work tapestry crochet:
- Single Crochet in Rows
- Back Loop Single Crochet in Rounds
- Back Loop Double Crochet in Rounds
The straightforward tutorial instructions take you through the process of carrying your unused yarn color and how to change yarn colors as you crochet across rows and rounds. There are also instructions included to show you how to manage the spot where your rounds meet when you are crochet projects like the Blending Colors Hat. A photo tutorial has also been included to demonstrate how to create the Eyelets used in the Tie-Up Choker and the Spanish Tile Bag. The photo tutorials are provided from page 2-9.
Each pattern included in Learn to Tapestry Crochet is written in U.S. (American) Crochet Terms. The row and round numbers are provided in bold font making it easy to scan the pattern to locate the information that you are looking for. Gauge is provided at the beginning of each written pattern and it varies for each of the designs. Additional pattern notes are included where they are needed within the written pattern in italics and in parenthesis.
Color charts are also included for the patterns. The full written instructions have also been provided so you can choose whether you would prefer to follow the written instructions, or the simple color charts.
Please take the time to read the Pattern Notes in full at the beginning of each pattern, as they include important information that you need to know to be able to successfully crochet your chosen projects.

- Tie-Up Choker – Intermediate – 12.25 inches long by 1.25 inches wide – Super Fine  Yarn, 2.75 mm crochet hook
- Diamond Bracelet – Intermediate – 2.75 inches wide by 7.5 inches long – Super Fine  Yarn, 2.75 mm and 5 mm (H) crochet hook
- Spiraling Cowl – Intermediate – 6 inches by 53.5 inches -Medium  Yarn, 5 mm (H) crochet hook
- Blending Colors Hat – Intermediate – Teen, Women and Men -Light  Yarn, 4 mm (G) crochet hook
- Spanish Tile Bag – Intermediate – 14 inches wide by 11 inches long – Light  Yarn, 3.5 mm (E) and 5 mm (H) crochet hook
- Peaked Waves Slippers – Intermediate – Small, Medium and Large -Medium  Yarn, 4.5 mm crochet hook

The Stitch Guide (p 35) includes the abbreviations used, yarn conversions, metric conversions chart and a stitch guide. It also includes written instructions and diagrams illustrating some of the stitches that are used in the patterns. You are also provided with a link to a more complete free resource online from Annie’s for further reference.
