Hi #crochetersofinstagram ! Until recently I did not know I was able to save posts on Instagram for later – I know, I know, I’m a little behind on Instagram – something about my big fingers and those small keys on my mobile device which make sharing a bit difficult for me but I am working on it AND I just learned something new! Today I learned I could save any post, or video into a collection – right on Instagram.
You can read the official version from Instagram here: How do I create a collection for posts I save on Instagram?
Learn How You Can Secretly Save Instagram Posts and Create Collections of Your Favorites Right on Instagram! But if you’d like the photo tutorial version, here is the Oombawka Design version ๐ and if you are on Instagram please Follow Me HERE.
All of my Instagram Images will become bigger if you click on them in this post!
First, just in case you didn’t know (like me!) when you tap the
button under an image, it will save it to your Instagram “Saved Collection”.
You can view everything you may have inadvertently saved here by going to your profile and clicking the (1 in the image below)
in the bottom right corner and then clicking the little bookmark-like
(2 in the image below) button.
This (above) is what mine looks like (apparently I’ve clicked that button a few times!).
You can click on any of those images and add it to a collection (or create a new collection for it!).
PS:ย When you save posts to your account (or collections) the person who posted it is not notified – it is done secretly ๐
So here’s what we have in my ‘saved’ posts section (and I thought I didn’t know how to save, eh?):
How You Can Create a Collection of Your Favorite Posts on Instagram
To create Collections is actually SUPER easy. There are a couple ways to do this. Like I explained above when you tap the
button under the image it will ‘save’ the post for you – but instead, hold that
down for a second and it will ask you if you want to save it to a collection (instead of just into the ‘saved section’ ALL). A little overlay screen comes up at the bottom like this:
You can then choose to add it to one of your existing collections OR click the
ย and make a brand-new collection for it!
To view your collections it is the same process as seeing your saved posts – click the
ย in the bottom right corner and then clicking the little bookmark-like
button. Then when you are on that screen click the tab for titled COLLECTIONS.
Another way to save things to a Collection is to Create your Collections First by clicking the
ย in the top-right corner.
A new screen displays (which my phone refuses to let me screen print!) and asks you to enter the NAME you want for your collection (for my example I made one called GIVEAWAYS) and then to click NEXT in the top right corner.
Then it will load all your ‘saved’ posts and allow you to pick from them to save to the new collection after which all you do is click the little blue check-mark in the top right corner to completely move them to the new collection.
If you don’t have any saved posts you want to move in there just click the blue check mark and it will create an empty Collection folder for you to use later on ๐ see my empty “Yarn” Collection below:
Pretty cool right? I think this is a great feature and it brings a whole other level to Instagram – now we can potentially share Free Crochet Patterns right on Instagram and you can SAVE them for later so you can work on it when you have time! Just like Marie’s post from earlier this week ๐ She is the first one in my Free Patterns folder. If you want to save it into a collection (to practice) I’ve included it below. Have fun! โฅ Rhondda
