I hope everyone is enjoying this month’s crochet along project! I’m very excited about our project for July and I have received permission from the Designer, Maria Valles to help you out with a photo tutorial for the square design we start with. I will be working on it this week for us. You can read more about our upcoming project and the supplies you need, here: July CAL of the Month Crochet Cocoon Cardigan
Today I can finally share my finished Banksia Shawl with you. I blocked my shawl first and then took photos. I love my finished May Spring Shawl Project.
For our May Crochet Along we chose to make a Spring Shawl and this was the project:
May Spring Shawl CAL Project
Banksia Shawl by Dedri Uys
Yarn: Light Fingering
Hook: 4.0 mm (G)
[328 – 437 yards (300 – 400 m)]
Size: 105 cm x 45 cm
and here’s my finished shawl:

For my finished shawl project I used:
Yarn: Bernat Sox Multi,
Color: Desert Storm
Hook: 4.0 mm (G)
I love Dedri’s pattern writing style and I found it very easy to understand. She shares extra information in her patterns, in a conversational tone, which helps me keep my place. She will let you know how many stitches you should have remaining at some points and which st she is asking you to work into throughout her written instructions. She also included a diagram to show the repeats so you can easily follow along making the necessary adjustments for the repeated bits between the edge and the point on the shawl.
The finished shawl is lightweight and beautiful. I was surprised this shawl only needed one ball of fingering yarn. It makes it a very affordable gift idea for those of us looking for projects we can crochet for friends and family. The yarn I used was from my stash and has been discontinued but it was perfect for this project.
My finished shawl measures 51 inches wide by 24 inches long after blocking.
If you worked on the May Spring Shawl Project too, please take a few moments to create your own project pages on Ravelry 🙂
One of our greatest pleasures as Designers is seeing what you crochet from the patterns we create! ♥
