Crochet Yarn Talk – Red Heart Scrubby Cotton Yarn Review
Out of the 3 types of Scrubby Yarn available, Scrubby Cotton is my personal favorite because I prefer cotton yarns for bathing and washing dishes. Scrubby Cotton is also softer and more absorbent than the other Scrubby Yarns but it still dries quickly!
Working with the Scrubby Cotton Yarn is not difficult and it doesn’t snag on your hook. I used a Clover Amour hook to crochet my projects and I found it glided smoothly and was easy to maintain gauge. At first I was worried I wouldn’t be able to see the loops of my stitches as I worked but it was easier than I expected, both when working in rows and rounds.
I think a lot of our family and friends will be receiving dishcloths and washcloths crocheted with Scrubby Cotton. I’m pretty impressed by this product…and once you use cloths crocheted with Scrubby Cotton and you feel how effectively they clean and you see how quickly they dry I think you will want to have your own dishcloths crocheted with Scrubby Cotton too!
One of my Mother-In-Law’s pet-peeves with her old crocheted dishcloths is how slowly they dry…and how this can lead to a stinky dishcloth (Yuck)! So I have already crocheted her a dishcloth using Scrubby Cotton to try and she will be receiving it next week 🙂 I can’t wait to see what she thinks!
Scrubby Cotton is available in 18 pretty shades:
I think I’d like to try some of the variegated ones for gifts – especially Calm Print (Top Row, 3rd over) and Nautical Print (Bottom Row, 1st).
If you would like to purchase Scrubby Cotton Yarn for yourself to make some dishcloths and/or washcloths, you can purchase it on the Red Heart website here: Scrubby Cotton. I have also purchased some at my local Michael’s store in Waterloo, Ontario.
I have designed a few free patterns for you to use with this yarn (or with any Red Heart Scrubby Yarn) and I will leave the links below but you can also access a great collection of free patterns directly from Red Heart.
