I had never heard of Slip-Stitch Knitting before looking at this book. I am very intrigued by the concept and the gorgeous designs you can make with the technique. The instructions included explain how simple it really is to create these beautiful colour-filled designs – in fact you actually only ever use 1 colour of yarn across each row – and stitches are knit, purled or slipped. It is the slip stitches that pull the colour from a previous row up to the row you are currently working.
In the 1970s this technique was called Mosaic Knitting by Barbara Walker and it allows you to create beautiful colourwork without making a bulky fabric.
The patterns included in Slip-Stitch Knits, by Sheryl Thies require very little shaping and only basic knitting skills.
So get out your knitting needles and make one of these gorgeous designs!
