Not Knit Warm and Quick Winter Cowl
Hook: 19 mm (US S)
Yarn: 2 balls of Bernat Mega Bulky Yarn – Yarn Category Super Bulky
Finished length 48″, Finished Width 5.5″
Row 1: Leave an 8 inch tail of yarn, chain 51, beginning in the 2nd ch from the hook, work 1 sc in the back bump of each st across. (50)
Bring the ends together – be careful not to twist the chain row. Now you will be working in continuous rounds. Do not slip stitch to join.
Round 2: 1 sc in the 3rd loop of each st around (50)
Round 3-8: repeat Round 2, do not finish off (50)
Now take the yarn tail you left at the beginning of Row 1 and close the gap in the initial Row 1 as neatly as you can.
You will be working over this in one moment – so it will become mostly hidden but it still needs to be done neatly 🙂
To finish your project, fold the fabric in half so Row 1 and Row 8 touch, and the front of your work remains on the outside. You are now going to join the edges to make a tube for a few stitches – to give the cowl a bit of shape. Insert your hook into the 3rd loop of the next st of what would be round 9 and through both remaining loops of the stitch from Row 1, yarn over and pull through all three loops on your hook. Repeat for the next 2 sets of aligned stitches. Finish off and weave in ends. This gives it a narrowness at the one end (see above photo) and a bit more shape than if you were to leave it completely open all the way around.
Alternately you can finish off R8 with an invisible join.
