After finishing up my Granny Square Blanket from the Crochet – Basics & Beyond class, I had some left-over Bernat Softee Chunky Yarn just asking to be worked with 🙂
This scarf is fun to make, fun to wear and a great alternative to a ‘standard’ scarf. For a warmer scarf – try layering it with multiple colours!

Super Quick! Fun and Flirty Winter Scarf
Yarn: Bernat Softee Chunky
Hook: 9.00 mm (M13)
Finished Length: approximately 64″
Finished Width: approximately 2″
Stitch Pattern Multiple: multiple of 6 + 1
R1: Skip the 1st ch st, *skip 2 sts (8 dc all in the next st), skip 2 sts, 1 sc in the next st*, repeat from * to * across to the end. You will have 23 cluster sets.
You will now be working back along the opposite side of the starting chain to the beginning ch 3. You will only be working into the chain sts that already have an 8 dc cluster set, or a sc st – skip all other ch sts: ch 3, 1 sc in the ch with the 8 dc set, ch 3, *1 sc in the same ch as the next sc, ch 3, 1 sc in the ch with the 8 dc set*, repeat from * to * to the end; ch 3, 1 sl st to the top of the 1st dc. Finish off and weave in ends.
For my Fun and Flirty Winter Scarf I crocheted one scarf in black and one in red.
Options: If you are making the layered version, you can stitch them together at the top (right in the centre of the layers) to keep them together – or leave them separate to allow you to wear one of the layers, without the other! Another option is to tack the ends together – but I like them to fly about freely – they are more fun & flirty that way!
Here are a few more options for you to play around with:
