This post includes more than 20 free crochet cow patterns that you can use to make some very adorable cow projects. Along with black and white dairy cows, you will also find Jersey Cows and some free Highland Cow Crochet Patterns too!
I have to admit I have always loved cows and I even collected cow themed décor until I was in my early twenties. My daughter is the cow collector in our home these days and her preference are not the black and white dairy cows that I loved, but Jersey Cows.
Free Crochet Cow Patterns
Each cute crocheted cow pattern included in this roundup is available as a free written pattern in American Crochet Terms. Some even include free downloadable PDFs, video tutorials and photo tutorials.
I’ve listed the yarn weights and crochet hook sizes that were used for each of the amigurumi cow projects, crochet hats, animal slippers and crochet baby toys patterns. Some of these crocheted cows were made with DK Light Weight Yarn [3], some with Medium Weight Yarn [4] and even one was made with Bulky Weight Yarn [5]. Most of these projects are an easy skill level and use simple stitches, like single crochet (sc), half double crochet (hdc) and double crochet (dc). For beginner friendly cow crochet patterns, check out the options with photo, or video tutorials.
Some sewing is required for each of these ami projects. You will also need supplies like a tapestry needle (yarn needle), safety eyes, polyfil stuffing, stitch markers, scissors, embroidery thread for the nostrils on the snout and small details (for some of the cows), black yarn, brown yarn (for the Highland Cow), white yarn, pink yarn and small amounts of other yarn colors. A few of the amigurumi cows also have crochet horns.

I have tried to download several of the patterns but haven’t had any success. would love that little highlander cow. Reminds me of the one I used to have many years ago — and she was real.

Hi Mary, None of my videos should cover half of the page. Also, in the right-hand corner you can click on the little x to close anything that is distracting your or bothering you 🙂 Yes, in order for my patterns to be available for free I do need to have ads on the site to cover my costs for hosting, etc. I do offer for sale versions as well for visitors who do not want to have ads on the sidebars to access the patterns. I try to have options for everyone but it can be difficult to please so many different folks from around the world. Have a lovely week, Rhondda

Patterns are cute, but I HATE the videos that cover over half the page. I get you want to make money but I won’t be coming back because of the video
